Body

  • The stomach can be treated with simple liposuction or with a tummy tuck. The tummy tuck helps improve the abdomen, even when relaxed, to regain a pleasing silhouette. Surgery involves removing excess skin and fat, but also tightening the muscle wall.

    Operating Procedure

Several appointments may be required during the preoperative phase. The first consultation includes a detailed interview and a clinical examination, sometimes with the prescription for an ultrasound. Dr Ratner will provide details of the procedure and its technique. It is also advisable to lose excess weight before the operation. The excess skin removed in the area between the umbilicus and the pubis will be determined by a tracing adapted for each patient. The skin is tightened downwards, and the umbilicus regains and retains its original position.

    Post Operation

The surgical procedure will leave a very discreet horizontal scar in the pubic area. It will be easily hidden by underwear or swimsuits. A second scar is located around the navel. The operation, carried out under general anaesthetic and on an outpatient basis, will last between 1–2.5 hours. The patient will be able to walk on the same day and will need to wear a girdle day and night for two weeks. There will be moderate pain. Sun, sea bathing and sport are allowed from the third week. The results will not be fully appreciated until after a year, when the scars will diminish. *During your consultation, Dr Ratner will show you examples of before and after cases.

  • Arms can be treated with simple liposuction or by an arm lift. The arm lift is carried out on the inner side of the arm, where the arm has relaxed due to ageing or significant weight loss. Liposuction reduces fat and the removal of excess skin tightens the skin.

    Operating Procedure

This procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic, on an outpatient basis, and lasts about 1–2.5 hours. Liposuction is often performed at the same time as the arm lift.

    Post Operation

The consequences are more annoying than painful. The patient will leave the operating room with a compression bandage that must be kept on until the next appointment 4–5 days later. The pain should be bearable, with occasional, minor hematomas, a slight swelling or even a sensation of tightness. During this period, avoid any sudden stretching movements, such as raising the arms so as not to pull on the sutures. Sport can be resumed from the fourth week after the operation and the scar will be protected from the sun for three months. The final result will be appreciated between 6–12 months following the operation, when the improvement in the form of the arm will be fully appreciated.

  • Certain women may naturally have buttocks that are flat, small, or lack shape and definition. To address this concern, a buttock enhancement procedure can offer the desired volume, lift, and a more rounded, aesthetically pleasing shape to the buttocks. This can be achieved through techniques such as fat transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL) or implants, resulting in a significant improvement in body contour.

  • Women may encounter difficulties when the inner labia of the genital area become stretched, elongated, or lose their natural shape. These changes can be caused by factors such as genetics, childbirth, or the aging process. Fortunately, a labiaplasty procedure can restore the appearance of the inner labia to a more youthful and natural contour. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also resolves issues related to tugging, discomfort when wearing certain clothing, and feelings of self-consciousness.

  • The transfer of autologous fat (from the patient’s body) or lipostructure is also known as fat grafting, lipofilling or lipomodelling. The process transfers the patient’s own fat to fill another part of the body or increase an area, such as the buttocks, breasts or restore the lost volume on the face.

    Operating procedure

A local anaesthetic, combined with sedation or a general anaesthetic, will be used depending on the size of the area to be treated. Sampling from the fatty area is done using a very fine suction cannula. This tissue will be treated and filtered so that the intact fat cells can be used. Reinjection is done using micro-cannulas that leave minimal scarring. The procedure lasts between 30–90 minutes. It will be performed on an outpatient basis and sometimes combined with another intervention, such as cervico-facial lifting or the fitting of breast implants.

    Post Operation

The discomfort should be bearable, with bruising or swelling that subsides within 10–15 days. There should be no sun exposure for at least two weeks. There will be visible results about 2–3 weeks after the operation, even if they are not complete until after two months, when an improvement in the texture and elasticity of the skin will be seen. Some imperfections, such as a slight asymmetry may be observed.

  • Many parts of the body are treated with liposuction, which will eradicate genetically produced excess fat: a double chin, arms, calves, hips, thighs, knees, saddlebags etc. Liposuction is not used as a method of slimming and does not replace weight reduction. It is used as a tool to reshape the silhouette more aesthetically.

    Operating Procedure

The excess fat cells (adipocytes) will be aspirated using a blunt cannula which will be introduced through small incisions discreetly located in a natural fold of the skin. The quality of the skin will determine the amount of fat extracted and the success of the procedure. Since these cells cannot multiply, there will be no recurrence of these excess fat cells. The procedure is usually carried out under local anaesthetic, combined with a light sedation. However, it is also sometimes carried out under general anaesthetic, on an outpatient basis. The duration of the operation varies depending on the amount of fat to be extracted and the number of anatomical areas. The procedure will last between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

    Post Operation

Bruises and swelling appear on the treated areas but resolve easily within 10–20 days. The discomfort is generally bearable and can be alleviated with simple painkillers. The patient must wait about three weeks before resuming sport or sunbathing. It is after three weeks that the results begin to appear, after absorption of the swelling. It will take 3–6 months for the skin to retract and readjust to the new silhouette. Some skin irregularities may persist after liposuction. Liposuction does not treat the orange peel appearance of cellulite.

  • Motherhood is a beautiful journey filled with love and happiness. However, the physical changes that occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding can leave a woman with sagging skin on the abdomen, deflated and drooping breast tissue, and stretch marks. These changes can affect a woman’s confidence and self-esteem. To regain the pre-pregnancy appearance, many women opt for a Mommy Makeover. This personalized treatment plan is designed to address individual concerns and includes procedures that restore a firm, toned, and attractive look. The Mommy Makeover aims to rejuvenate the body, helping women feel more confident and comfortable in their post-pregnancy bodies.

  • Thighs can be treated with simple liposuction or by lifting of the inner thighs. Ageing or significant weight loss can result with deterioration of the skin in the inner thighs. Excessive fat at this stage is often associated with it. Refining and tightening the upper part of the inner thigh can be considered.

    Operating Procedure

This is an outpatient operation carried out under general anaesthetic. To reduce fat in this inner thigh lift, Dr Ratner will use liposuction while ensuring the skin is properly lifted. The procedure lasts about two hours. The patient should keep a compression bandage made of secure elastic bands until the next appointment 4–5 days later.

    Post Operation

During the first days after the operation, bruising or swelling associated with tightness may appear but it should remain bearable. This surgery is not very debilitating, but the scar requires daily care. The patient must refrain from any sudden movement, especially when sitting down. Sport can be resumed after five weeks. Sun exposure should not resume for three months. It will take between 6–12 months for the patient to fully appreciate the results, when the elimination of excess fat and sagging skin is guaranteed.
